Where we started
Otto Damgaard emigrated from Denmark in the mid-1920's. He worked with well-known landscape architect Jens Jensen at the Ford Rotunda at the World's Fair in Chicago and started his own landscape contracting business in 1933, after meeting Edsel Ford. He had been asked to landscape their Haven Hill, Michigan estate, his first project of his own. From 1943-1945, Otto landscaped Vaughan's V.A. Hospital for the Red Cross, with help from Army trucks and soldiers, delivering the trees.
Today, the spirit of Otto's diligence and integrity continues with Otto Damgaard Sons and Damgaard Landscape Management.
Both our full-time and seasonal employees know what it takes to maintain Otto's high standards, and we continue to surpass expectations, year after year.
